Jyotibala [Jyothibala] was born on August 11th, 1946 in Diu. Jyotibala [Jyothibala]'s father was Tribhovandas Motichand Raghuvanshi and her mother was Narabda (Kasi) Karamchand Chauhan. Her paternal grandparents were Motichand Samgi Raghuvanshi and Jivkor Hemchand Waghela; her maternal grandparents were Karamchand Rugnath Chauhan and Ratan Bai Ghela Parmar. She had a brother and three sisters, named Manharlal, Jaya, Vassanti and Kokila. She was the second youngest of the five children.
